It was a sunny Thursday morning last week in our beautiful little city of Oxford, MS. As I sat in one of our local restaurants enjoying a late breakfast around mid morning, I noticed two ladies walk through the front door. Both ladies were dressed in spring clothing, as the weather was warming up on this pretty spring day. Observing the two of them, the older of the two ladies was using a T-handle cane to assist her as she made her way to her table. My thoughts, as they often do when I see an elder lady utilizing assistance aids to help stabilize her as she makes her way, drifted back to my grandmother. As my Maw Maw began to age, she required more and more medical equipment to help get her thorough the day. As the old saying goes, “Put yourself in their shoes.” It goes without saying that when abilities become unavailable to us, our lives change drastically.
